Overall rating 4. Yes No Thanks for your feedback! Report as inappropriate. Beautifully written account of a poor villager's struggle against society, circumstance and his "self" ego for freedom and the extent he will go to acheive it.. Great little read set in India, accurate aNd cutting description with a thrilling plotline. The book presents a moral dilemma where context is key. A refreshing story from India offering a different perspective of the life of a servant.

Disappointing monologue that didn't go anywhere. Sad and sometimes graphic recount of one poor man's life in India. As he drives his master to shopping malls and call centres, Balram becomes increasingly aware of immense wealth and opportunity all around him, while knowing that he will never be able to gain access to that world. As Balram broods over his situation, he realizes that there is only one way he can become part of this glamorous new India - by murdering his master.

The White Tiger presents a raw and unromanticised India, both thrilling and shocking - from the desperate, almost lawless villages along the Ganges, to the booming Wild South of Bangalore and its technology and outsourcing centres. The first-person confession of a murderer, The White Tiger is as compelling for its subject matter as for the voice of its narrator - amoral, cynical, unrepentant, yet deeply endearing.

Introducing a major literary talent, The White Tiger offers a story of coruscating wit, blistering suspense, and questionable morality, told by the most volatile, captivating, and utterly inimitable narrator that this millennium has yet seen.

Balram's success is only achieved due to the killing of Mr.
